Daily Market Watch 23/03/2026: Market Plunges Below The 200-Day Moving Average

MARKET HIGHLIGHTS

o       A fresh wave of margin calls emerged in the afternoon, accelerating the sell-off into the close. The VN-Index dropped 3.44%, broadly in line with regional markets. The market ended deeply negative with 317 decliners, including 38 limit-down stocks, many of which still had significant sell-side overhangs. Foreign investors stepped up net selling, adding pressure on large-cap names, with most VN30 constituents closing weaker than in the morning. Notably, four VN30 stocks (DGC, MWG, GVR, and VIC) hit their floor prices. Mid- and small-cap stocks were hit hardest, accounting for 34 out of 38 limit-down names.
