Daily Market Watch 14/07/2025: Strong Momentum Sustained Despite Profit-Taking Pressure
THE EQUITY MARKET
o Vietnam’s stock market opened with signs of weakness in the early session as profit-taking emerged following last week’s strong rally. Many retail investors anticipated a cooling period, especially as large-cap stocks appeared overbought and foreign buying momentum showed signs of fading. These factors contributed to selling pressure across the board, particularly in the small- and mid-cap segments. Vingroup-related stocks, however, continued to demonstrate notable strength.
o Despite the early pullback, the market quickly regained momentum by late morning and accelerated into the afternoon session. Sector rotation intensified, with gains gradually broadening to small- and mid-cap stocks. Retail sentiment turned increasingly positive, as many mid-cap names—previously lagging—began to rally. Speculative activity picked up toward the close, lifting the VN-Index by 0.87%.
o Liquidity remained robust, with total trading value on HOSE reaching approximately USD 1.2 billion. Both buying and profit-taking were active, as sidelined investors entered the market on intraday price dips. Foreign investors were less active, posting a modest net buying value of USD 5 million, amid growing selling pressure as stock prices climbed.
